Michelle is a very sweet girl.  She was surrended to us by her owner who was no longer able to care for her due to health reasons.  She has a great temperment and no behaviorial issues. She is also housetrained.

Foster Update 7/17/14:
This week I discovered a funny & cute quirk about Michelle. She likes to "dig" the carpet then lay down. It's not destructive at all and it's only a few swipes but it's really cute. Her love for belly rubs has become more apparent recently. When I sit down with her and start petting her, she'll roll over so you pet her belly and if you stop she shakes her paw at you. She even did it to her foster Grandma! I've said it before and I'll say it again, this girl is a car rideaholic. In fact, as I was walking her through the parking lot at Oviedo, she went from car to car hoping she could get in it. If there's a car parked in my driveway, she'll stop and wait at the door until you tell her we're going for a walk not a ride. She is loved by the neighbors and has stollen each of their hearts. She has a very quiet demeanor and is a very well behaved girl. Her tail goes crazy if you speak to her, smile at her, blow kisses to her, feed her, walk her, etc. I also discovered that her food bowl scares her. It's one that is slightly risen off the ground but it must make a noise that scares her (this is new). All week she wouldn't eat all her food unless I was holding the bowl and she kept barking at her dish about 1/2 way through meal time. I put her dish on the ground and she scarfed up all her food.

Foster Update 7/14/14:
Michelle's personality keeps showing through more and more each day. She absolutely loves walks and car rides. I went into my garage and she followed and even though I came back into the house she stood by the car door until I went and got her. It's very cute. She can also see herself in the mirror and will bark and wag her tail at herself. It's really cute and funny.

Foster Update 6/30/14:
Michelle has really opened up this week and started showing me her real personality and what a wonderful personality she has! She is playful and has been trying to play with her foster brother. She's been trotting on our walks and is a lot more active in the house. She does get nervous in new environments and with new people but just give her love and time and she'll open right up. She will not go up the stairs in my house but she will go up stairs near my clubhouse so she must have been trained not to go up stairs in homes. I'm still working on her coming up the stairs because I want her to feel comfortable in the house. She loves walks and will walk with you anywhere and is a good walker.

Foster Update 6/23/14:
Michelle got to experience a backyard and loves it! She trots when she's excited and she ran around the backyard with the other dogs. She loves to be near you and loves belly rubs. She also likes to be brushed. She's very easy going.

Foster Update 6/15/14:
She's very quiet, wants to be near you and is an absolute sweetheart. She isn't so sure about stairs but we're working on that. She's a great walker and listens really well. I even got a few kisses yesterday. She's been great with meeting dogs both big and small & seems interested in cats but we haven't ventured over to one yet. She likes wet food mixed in with her dry food. I think she used to have her food down all day but her foster brother is an always starving beagle so we can't do that. Overall, she's doing great and would make a great addition to any family.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
