• Appearance Snowball gets his name for being snow white and almost looking like a big snowball when he is curled up sleeping. He is a bit over 5 pounds and much smaller than even a Chiwawa. Surprising that despite the small size he is able to jump up on the sofa to cuddle up next to you, so this dog is strong and agile for its size. He has been groomed and looks great. His teeth were just cleaned at the vet office, and a small wart removed from his back at the same time, so there is a small patch of fur that was shaved off that is already starting to grow back. This dog does not shed, this breed is successfully placed in homes with people having allergies with other breeds.

• Energy Level Snowball is a low energy dog and although he likes to roam around in the fenced back yard for a short while after doing what dogs need to do, he is content to find a doggy bed or pillow or lap to take a long nap after that time outside. He also sleeps soundly in his bed that is in his crate at night and has only barked once an hour before time to get up. He ran to the water dish and then to the door to go out and did his business and then went back to bed and fell soundly asleep again, until it was time to get up.

• Food I have been feeding him twice a day, the food he has been getting is the caned food from Costco. It is known as Kirkland super premium, and there is no better food available, and a case of 24 cans at about $20.00 makes it a real bargain. I always feed this to all my dogs. He only needs a heaping table spoon for a full meal, he tends to eat a small amount and return to eat a bit more later and sometimes takes an hour to finish eating his meal. He is defiantly not a fast or aggressive eater.

• Adaptability Bringing him home for the first time was uneventful. He gets along with everyone and is not snippy or nervous or aggressive. In fact when I got him from the shelter to bring him home he was in the room with the free roaming cats and getting along fine with them, so this is a good dog to have if you already have another small dog or cats.

• Behaviors I have not seen bad habits. He shows no interest in noises or birds or squirrels in the yard as my other dogs do. He will respond to noises at the door or the doorbell going off, he is not the least bit afraid of the vacuum cleaner, and will let you vacuum right up to him and show no concern that you will hurt him. He is also very cooperative for baths and blow drying and combing. I don’t even have to hold him to blow day him, he will stay seated until your done drying and brushing. This dog is used to being groomed and cared for.

• Human Social Skills This would be a great dog to have for any one that can realize this is a small delicate dog. Snowball loves everyone and all animals but I would be a bit concerned for him, if he was with very young children that could treat him like a stuffed toy and hurt him. He is not fearful and loves to be with people.

• Animal Social Skills Snowball shows no concern for my dogs to come up and sniff and check him out and for the most part just ignores my other dogs. He has occasionally sniffed my dogs to check on them but as I have only had him a week, I have not seen him attempt to initiate play with the other dogs yet.

• Obedience Snowball is so small that you don’t really need to tell him to get down, and stay seems to be what he knows best, when he is in a comfortable spot he will remain there for long naps. He does come when called and goes outside and on command. He will go to the door and bark if you have not let him out recently and if you forgot to let him back in he will remind you with low whimpers for a short time before he gets your attention with a few barks.

• Training Poodles are one of the smartest breeds and learn new commands and tricks quickly. He is crate trained and housetrained. If his crate is left open he is usually found in his bed there, if not in your lap, or laying next to you, or on your feet.

• Personality Quirks This dog, more than most others I have fostered, loves to be with you. He will stay in his crate alone and sleep well at night but during the daytime likes to be with you. If you leave the room for more than a few minutes he will usually check to see where you are. He loves car rides and is quiet and calm in the car.

Ideal Home The ideal home could be any home where there are no very small children or other large playful or aggressive dogs. The only concern would be for him not getting hurt, Snowball gets along with everyone, but a big playful dog or young children could hurt this delicate dog. Snowball really likes cats and would be right at home with a household with cats.
