Description:
Shadow is a smokey gray cat whose life recently took a turn for the better. You see, this young man was one of the countless cats of Central Florida making it on their own outside. One of our volunteers fed him for an extensive period to time, building up his trust to the point that she was able to catch him. Now he is neutered and waiting for his forever family. He already loves people for the food they provide and mingles well with other cats. You always know when he is hungry because he becomes very vocal. He will put up with some lap sitting and petting, but really just prefers to come up along side you and gently rub the length of his body against your legs. Shadow is a testimony to how quickly a feral cat can become domesticated given the right environment. He has been our joy and will be yours too!

5/27 Volunteer Update:
"Shadow continues to break my heart. He's so good with other cats and I want him to find a home so badly, but I know from working with him at adoption events that he can sometimes be difficult. He seems to do better when things are on his terms, though. He was very relaxed today, and hung out with Ziggy, just taking it all in stride."

According to The Cat Fanciers' Association, Chartreux history is steeped in legend, even though the breed was only advanced to championship status in 1987. There exists a lovely old legend that the Chartreux lived with, and were named for, the Carthusian monks of France, and perhaps even shared a tipple or two of their famous Chartreuse liqueur!
The Chartreux is a study in contrasts. Often described as a "potato on toothpicks," the Chartreux has a robust body, broad shoulders and a deep chest, all complemented by medium short, finely boned legs. The Chartreux is well muscled, which would enable the cat to meet its obligation as the fine mouser it is reputed to be in French literature. Unlike any other cat, the Chartreux's blue fur is medium in length and woolly, with the proper coat breaking at the neck, chest, and flanks. A dense undercoat gives it resistance and a feeling of sheep's wool.
The Chartreux is known for its smile. The rounded head with its softly contoured forehead tapers to a narrowed muzzle. This gives the Chartreux an image of smiling. The Chartreux's eyes are one of its most endearing features. They are rounded, but not as round as the Persian's. The outer corners curve slightly upward. Color ranges from gold to copper.
Chartreux quickly become attached to one family and frequently follow their masters from room to room. Known for their dog-like behavior, these cats can be taught to fetch a ball, and most will respond to their names.
The Chartreux is a quiet breed, chirping rather than meowing at things it finds interesting. This intelligent cat is fascinated by television and likes to participate in telephone conversations by chewing on the cord.

ADOPTION/DONATION FEE:
All Pet Rescue By Judy animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, micro chipped and up-to-date on the vaccines applicable to their date of intake with PRBJ and respective to their weight and/or age at the time of adoption.

Pet Rescue By Judy is a non-profit, no-kill organization. The PRBJ donation fee collected may not be used to cover just the costs of this particular animal in which you are interested. As we have a variety of animals in our care with a wide range of medical needs, all donations collected are utilized towards all expenses within the rescue.

The goal of PRBJ is not just to place every animal into a home, but it is to place each animal into the RIGHT home, seeking that forever home, to avoid future transition and negative impact on the life of each of these deserving animals.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING OPENING YOUR HEART AND YOUR HOME TO A RESCUED PET
Kuranda ValentinesOur pets love to sleep on Kuranda beds, but we do not have enough for everyone.  If you would like to donate a bed at discounted price, please click here.
