"Very, very sweet." That is what I hear time and again from volunteers who have met Cassidy. We don't know very much about Cassidy and her background. She is great with people but needs to be in a home with no cat. She is really just a big puppy, even though she is two years old. She will make a wonderful pet, but she needs basic training such as how to walk on a leash. She is crate trained and quite the jumper so she'll need supervision when she's in the backyard to make sure she doesn't make her escape by jumping the fence!
Volunteer Update 07/05/09 - Cassidy is one of my favorite dogs at the shelter, I always make sure I go say hi and give her an ear scratch! She seems to be overlooked by people walking through checking out the dogs, and its a shame because she is one of the most loving dogs there. Cassidy is going to make someone a wonderful companion!
Volunteer Update 09/11/09 - If you're looking for a well behaved, super loving and affectionate companion, then Cassidy is your girl! She is such a wonderful dog who has so much love to give. Cassidy is truly amazing and whoever gets to bring this beautiful girl home will not be sorry!
Volunteer Update 11/07/09 - Cassidy has been at the adoption center since May of this year. Although she was good with the other dogs when she first came in, she's since become dog aggressive according to staff. This is usually caused by a lack of attention, consistency, love, and depression from the shelter environment, and not necessarily a predicate of her behavior once she's in a loving home. Won't someone foster or adopt her??
Training A Jumping Dog
We believe that the best dog is a trained dog. There are many resources available to help owners, many listed on our website (Ask The Dog Trainer and Resources For Pet Owners webpages). And don't forget the web. According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, unless given a command to jump, a dog should never be allowed to jump on humans. A dog who jumps on a human at his own free will is a dog who does not respect the person he is jumping on. Even those cute little toy dogs should not be allowed to jump on people. While you, the owner, may think it is cute, it is not cute to everyone else. Not only is it annoying to most people to have someone else's dog jump on them, it can also be dangerous. A jumping dog can knock people over and muddy their clothes, put runners in nylons and scratch.
